Christamas time in Mexico is celebrated in a different way than in other cultures, of course the main structure of the celebration is similar and everyday becomes more and more equal, but still some differences, maybe the biggest is the spirt of the celebration, in Mexico is precisely this, a celebration, a party.. or a serir of parties, not like in Europe , for example where it is more a religious and calm time. In Mexico, since december the 16th, known as the first "posada", the first aprty, there will come 8 more before Chirstmas day, in such parties children beat "piñatas" wich are colorful figures made in paper and filled up with fruits and candies, sing "letanias"...lirical representacion of the Christ birth, people eat food, drink beverages with alcohol and fruits, they share "aginaldos" with visitors and fire fireworks. This kind of celebration was origined from the need of spanish priest to teach catholicism practices to indian, then invented a misture of european elements and other who were proper of the natives. At the beginning the "posadas" were only in the little churches squares, but after a time, people took it to their own neighbourhooods and began to make it part of the tradition...

First winter storms in Mexico
Last week the first winter storms started to fall in the north states of Mexico: Durango, Chihuahua, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosi for instance. There are some few dead people because of this but in the whole the situation is under control and there are not reasons to think in making emergency plans if visiting the zone. In the rest of the country weather is mild and even warm n the coast lines aside Mexican Gulf and mayan riviera. In Mexico city, there have not been envirorment emergency since some years ago, so it is ok just to cover before leaving the room and therefore possible to enjoy the christmas time.
